Jackson Davis and Lexington Lafayette made a trip to the Louiville Area to face Bullitt East tonight. Bullitt East took control of the game very early and never looked back, depsite losing Kentucky signee Derrick Willis early in the second half to an ejection. It was great seeing a lot of local coaches in the building getting early looks at both talented teams. It was even greater seeing the looks on Bellermine University coach Scotty Davenport's face seeing his recent signee Rusty Troutman clean sweat off the floor, and "clean up" during this game. Troutman looked like a star tonight making the game look really easy on both ends of the court, he finished with 32 points (12 of 19). Coach D and Bellermine definitely got a steal with signing Troutman.
Despite the lost, Layfayette has a good looking team that with time (once the football guys get it together) they will be a contender in the state. With that being said, it will be up to Davis to lead this team to where they want to go. Davis played very well tonight and showed that he has added some skill to his game. I like the fact that he was very agressive in the post, and also showed the ability to put the ball on the floor on the block.
It was nice getting out for opening day tonight, l'm looking forward to a fun talented filled season.
