It will be very seldom that we put player evaluations on the site, but after opening night here is a look at the work that we do. This is Allen Hudson's evaluations on Lafayette's Jackson Davis and Shon Wright.
Davis.... long athletic nimble body player who plays very well around the basket
can finish right hand or left. Has nice jump hook over left shoulder that he was
able to get off over an equally tall and athletic post defender. He was able to
knock down a few 12-15 foot jump shots...form looks to be nice and soft, would like to see him take a few more jump shots to help loosen the defense up. Davis with his lively body rebounds both ends of the floor well for his position, has good nose for the ball off the glass. On the defensive end of the floor showed good post defense holding his ground and effectively being able to challenge the shot of UK signee Derek Willis attempted post ups and force him off his spot. He is somewhat limited to what he can do at times on the floor due to the unbalanced line-ups he sometimes plays with on his high school team at times as many as three post players with no true point guard. Davis needs to continue work on his perimeter game so he can become more comfortable attacking off the bounce and loosening up defenses with a confident mid-range shot and mid post game. Overall Davis is a fine looking prospect in the 2014 junior class that shows lots of promise to continue to grow his game.
#32 Wright …just a sophomore this young man has bruising
body runs about 6’5 235lbs with lots of potential to sculpt it into a physical
specimen before it all said and done. He carves up space when he posts up due to his trunk like legs which don’t allow him to be moved off his spot. Once
receiving the ball showed good ability to pass opposite out of the post and turn
over left shoulder and shoot a nice soft touched baby hook. This young man due
to his sheer size is a definite prospect to keep an eye on…. Once he becomes
custom to his size and strength I feel he will begin too flourish athletically
and really be able to put fourth some dominant performance on the glass and in
